BNP leader Amir Khasru was previously on presenting from the Keraniganj jail to the Chief Metropolit court at 1:30 p.m.

BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury was granted bail by a Dhaka court on Thursday in connection with four further cases that were filed at the Paltan and Ramna Police Stations in the city.

After hearing arguments on the bail requests, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain issued the directive.

According to Syed Zainul Abedin Mejbah, Amir Khasru's attorney, the court granted him bail until the police report was submitted, subject to a Tk 10,000 bond, in four of the eight complaints that were brought against him at two separate police stations.

Hearings were not convened in the other four cases, according to Zainul Abedin, since there were not enough papers.

He hoped that the bail hearings would happen and that Khasru would also be granted bail in those cases after the relevant court received the required case files.

Khasru was earlier brought before the court from the Keraniganj jail at 1:30 p.m. He was being held by the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court at the time. Around 2:00 pm, he was later brought from detention to the courthouse.

On suspicion of engaging in sabotage actions during the BNP's October 28, 2023 protest, ten cases were brought against Khasru.

Six of those cases resulted with the BNP leader receiving bail.

Amir Khasru was taken into custody by the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) from his Gulshan home during the early hours of November 3.

On November 9, the court sent him to jail following his 6-day remand, which had been issued earlier that day. Since then, he has been incarcerated.
