Dhaka, July 17 (V7N)– Early Wednesday, police raided BNP’s Nayapaltan central office following the explosion of crude bombs in front of the building.

A team from the Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted the raid around 12:30 pm, said Shamsuddin Didar, an official of the BNP chairperson's press wing.

Speaking to reporters, Harun Or Rashid, Chief of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), stated that they recovered a large cache of explosives, seven local weapons, and sticks from the BNP office during the raid.

Earlier, unidentified individuals had hurled crude bombs in front of the BNP office.

At an emergency virtual press conference, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi claimed the raid was part of the government's master plan. He described the police action as a foul play and a dangerous drama by the DB police, accusing them of entering the empty office at midnight to stage a scene as part of a deep-rooted conspiracy.

“They did the same thing earlier. Entering our office like cowards at midnight to mislead people. We strongly condemn and protest this,” Rizvi said.

He alleged that law enforcement officers or ruling party members, under police protection, hurled the crude bombs to justify the raid.

Rizvi added that the raid aimed to spread fear among students participating in the anti-quota movement across the country. He warned that the government could not cover up its brutality and misdeeds through such actions.
