The Gono Odhikar Parishad has called for the rebranding of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and significant administrative reforms, including the replacement of superintendents of police (SP) and officers-in-charge (OC) nationwide. They have also demanded that the Awami League, along with its student and youth wings—Chhatra League and Jubo League—be banned as terrorist organizations.

Gono Odhikar Parishad leaders, including President Nurul Haque Nur and General Secretary Rashed Khan, presented these demands to the home affairs adviser during a meeting at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

In their proposal, the Gono Odhikar Parishad urged authorities to identify and apprehend those responsible for attacking peaceful student and public protests, including those who ordered the use of live fire against demonstrators.

They also demanded the immediate dismissal of Home Secretary Jahangir Alam, divisional Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) of police, and other partisan officials, insisting that individuals involved in corruption and criminal activities be swiftly brought to justice.

To restore law and order and ensure the safety and morale of the police, the Gono Odhikar Parishad recommended deploying 10 military personnel to each police station.

They emphasized eradicating bribery and corruption at all levels of the police force, including within passport and immigration services, to establish a more public-friendly policing system.

The party further demanded that complaints of misconduct, corruption, or irregularities against police officers be investigated and resolved within a month.

Additionally, they called for operations to recover illegal weapons and collect legally registered ones.

Moreover, the Gono Odhikar Parishad urged the reinstatement of those unjustly dismissed from their jobs and called for the recruitment of new police officers as needed.
