Narayanganj, August 25 — Golam Dastgir Gazi, the former Member of Parliament for the Narayanganj-1 constituency, Minister of Textiles and Jute, and Chairman of Gazi Group, has been arrested in connection with a murder case. He is currently in police custody in Narayanganj and is scheduled to be presented before the district and sessions judge's court after noon on Sunday.

Gazi was apprehended from Shantinagar on Saturday night. A murder case was filed against him on August 21 at the Rupganj police station in Narayanganj, where he was subsequently shown as arrested.

The case stems from an incident following the resignation of Sheikh Hasina, during which Roman Mia, a school student, was fatally shot in Rupganj amid a celebratory procession. The victim's aunt, Rina, filed the case against several individuals, including Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, Golam Dastgir Gazi, and his son. The case lists 45 named defendants and 60 unnamed individuals.
