Dhaka, Sep 11 (V7N): In an effort to seek justice for students who have been subjected to attacks by Chhatra League at educational institutions across Bangladesh, Chhatra Dal has created an "Information and Evidence Collection Cell on Student Abuse" alongside a "Legal Aid Cell."

The announcement was made via a press release signed by Md Jahangir Alam, Central Office Secretary of Chhatra Dal, on Wednesday.

The press release condemned the abuses committed by Chhatra League activists under the Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina from 2009 to 2024. According to the statement, Chhatra Dal and other opposition groups, as well as ordinary students, have faced severe violence, which has resulted in significant violations of law and human rights.

The release also accused the ruling party of politicizing the judiciary, preventing proper investigations and justice in such cases. In response, Chhatra Dal has taken the initiative to form these two cells with the aim of documenting abuses and ensuring justice for the victims.

Nahiduzzaman Shipon, General Secretary of Dhaka University Chhatra Dal and a member of the Information and Evidence Collection Cell, told the Dhaka Tribune, "This cell has been established to identify those responsible for the abuses committed by Chhatra League and to take legal measures against them."

Nasir Uddin Nasir, Central General Secretary of Chhatra Dal, further stated, "We will work to secure justice for all the incidents of attacks by Chhatra League on students from 2008 to 2024. Our team is dedicated to bringing the identified perpetrators under the rule of law."
