Dhaka, Sept 12 (V7N) – Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir praised Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus for his national address on Thursday, asserting that it clearly outlined the interim government's vision.
During a press briefing at BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan, Fakhrul expressed optimism that the interim government would promptly implement the reforms proposed by Yunus.
“This is a critical period. In his address yesterday, the Chief Adviser detailed various necessary reforms and identified those responsible for executing them,” Fakhrul noted.
He highlighted that Yunus’s address provided a broad outline of the government’s vision and stressed the urgency of these reforms, given the damage inflicted on state institutions by the previous autocratic regime under Sheikh Hasina. “We hope these reforms will be completed swiftly,” Fakhrul added.
The BNP leader also emphasized the importance of reinstating democratic governance and the establishment of a parliament elected by the people. “We support the interim government, which emerged from a mass movement, and hope they will fulfill the people’s expectations,” Fakhrul said.
He reiterated that democracy is the only system through which people’s hopes and aspirations can be truly represented. “Our primary task now is to build democratic institutions in alignment with the people’s desires. We trust the interim government will understand this and carry out their responsibilities effectively for the benefit of the people,” Fakhrul concluded.
Earlier on Wednesday evening, Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus announced the formation of six commissions to reform the judiciary, election system, administration, police, Anti-Corruption Commission, and the constitution.
