Dhaka, Sep 12 (V7N): BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir praised Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus for his recent national address, which outlined the interim government's vision and reform plans.
At a press briefing held at the BNP’s Naya Paltan central office on Thursday, Fakhrul expressed hope that the interim government would quickly implement the reforms discussed by Dr. Yunus in his speech.
“This is a critical moment. In his address yesterday (Wednesday), the chief adviser presented various reform initiatives and appointed responsible individuals to oversee them,” Fakhrul said. He noted that the address effectively articulated the interim government’s broad vision.
Fakhrul stressed the importance of these reforms, highlighting the damage inflicted on state institutions under the Sheikh Hasina regime. He urged for the swift completion of these reforms.
The BNP leader also called for the establishment of democratic institutions and the prioritization of a people's parliament. He emphasized that democracy is essential for reflecting the hopes and aspirations of the people.
“Building democratic institutions is crucial, and it must align with the desires of the people. We hope the interim government will effectively fulfill their duties to benefit the populace,” Fakhrul added.
In his address, Chief Adviser Dr. Yunus announced plans to establish six commissions to reform the judiciary, electoral system, administration, police, Anti-Corruption Commission, and the constitution.
