Rangamati, Sep 16 (V7N) - Following the ouster of the authoritarian regime on August 5, the Rangamati District BNP leadership has adopted a strict stance in enforcing party discipline, particularly in dealing with unruly members. In line with directives from the central high command, the district BNP has taken decisive action, expelling a total of 12 party members, including 9 from Baghaihat, for violating party rules in areas like Kaukhali, Kaptai, and Rangamati Sadar.
Rangamati District BNP General Secretary, Advocate Mamunur Rashid Mamun, confirmed the expulsions.
The expulsion letters cited clear charges against the expelled members, including causing public fear, issuing threats, creating chaos within the party, and physically assaulting fellow party members. These actions were in violation of the party’s principles and discipline.
The latest group to be expelled includes Md. Nasir, a member of Baghaihat Municipal BNP, and Md. Bokhteyar, Joint Convener of Baghaihat Municipal Volunteer Wing, alongside Mohammad Rana, Liton, and Rubel from the Rangamati Women's College area. Others expelled include Mohammad Kalu Mia (alias Kasai Kalu), Faruq, Iqbal, and Jewel from the district’s Old Bus Station area.
The expulsions were publicly announced through three separate letters posted on social media by Rangamati District BNP General Secretary, Advocate Mamunur Rashid, and signed by District BNP President Dipan Talukdar Dipu.
According to the letters, Md. Nasir and Md. Bokhteyar used their party positions to spread fear, intimidate people, create disorder, and engage in various acts that violated the party’s ideology and code of conduct.
Despite repeated warnings from both the central and district BNP to cease such activities, the members in question continued to defy orders, damaging the party’s reputation and undermining internal unity. As a result, they were temporarily expelled from the party under section 5(GA) of the BNP constitution, losing their primary membership and all other party positions to safeguard party discipline.
