Dhaka, Sep 24 (V7N) – South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh, Park Young-sik, met with BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday to discuss potential avenues for strengthening economic cooperation and investment between South Korea and Bangladesh.

The meeting, which lasted for an hour, commenced around 4 PM at the BNP chairperson’s office in Gulshan. It was attended by BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, Chairperson's Advisory Council member Tajvirul Islam, and Organizing Secretary Shama Obed.

Following the meeting, Dr. Moyeen Khan informed reporters that discussions focused on expanding economic collaboration and investments between the two nations. "We also discussed the current situation in Bangladesh, including the recent student-led mass movement and various changes in the country," he stated.

Dr. Moyeen noted that over the last 17 years, Bangladesh has been adversely affected by corruption, which has also harmed the business sector. These issues, along with the prospects for future economic ties with Korea, were part of the conversation.

He further emphasized that South Korea’s interest in Bangladesh is not politically motivated but rather aimed at enhancing financial cooperation between the two countries. The BNP leader stressed that the Korea-Bangladesh relationship is based on mutual benefits for the citizens of both nations.

Expressing confidence in future cooperation, Dr. Moyeen added, "If the BNP is entrusted with the responsibility of governing the country, we will prioritize the interests of both Bangladeshis and Koreans, ensuring development while maintaining the friendship between the two sides."
