Dhaka, Oct 16 (V7N) – Md. Matiur Rahman Sheikh has been appointed as the new Chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Bangladesh. Prior to this, he was serving as Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP). The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification confirming his appointment, effective immediately.

Upon assuming the role, Sheikh participated in a familiarization meeting with CID officers, where he delivered an instructional speech outlining his vision and expectations for the department.

The Ministry of Home Affairs emphasized that this decision was made in the public interest and would take immediate effect.
