Dhaka, Oct 21 (V7N) – The outgoing Dutch ambassador to Bangladesh, Irma Van Deuren, held a courtesy meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Yamuna on Monday. During the meeting, the Chief Adviser congratulated Ambassador Van Deuren on the successful completion of her diplomatic assignment in Bangladesh.

Ambassador Van Deuren reflected on her experience in the country, particularly noting the student revolution that occurred in July-August of this year. She expressed her admiration for the resilience and dynamism of the Bangladeshi people during her tenure.

Chief Adviser Dr. Yunus also reminisced about his recent bilateral meeting with the Dutch Prime Minister at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, where they discussed key issues such as anti-corruption initiatives, flood management strategies, and technical assistance for Bangladesh's agricultural sector.

Ambassador Van Deuren reaffirmed the Netherlands’ commitment to supporting Bangladesh in implementing the interim government's reform programs through technical assistance. The discussions further touched upon trade facilitation with the European Union post-2029, improvements in the garment industry’s working conditions, women’s empowerment, and the upcoming Youth Festival in Bangladesh.

The meeting underscored the continued strong bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and the Netherlands, with both parties emphasizing collaboration on various developmental fronts.
