Dhaka, Dec 31 (V7N) — The six reform commissions, tasked with submitting their reports by the end of this year, have extended their deadlines, according to Cabinet Division sources on Tuesday. The commissions include those focusing on constitutional reform, elections, judiciary, anti-corruption, police, and public administration.

The extensions come amid delays in finalising their respective recommendations.

Abu Momtaz Saad Uddin Ahmed, head of the Police Reform Commission, stated that their deadline has been extended until January 15. "We will submit the report within this timeframe," he assured.

Badiul Alam Majumder, chair of the Election Reform Commission, mentioned that their report will be ready by January 3. Similarly, Iftekharuzzaman, leading the Anti-Corruption Reform Commission, noted that their team began working on October 7, despite being formed on October 3. "Our report will be submitted by January 7," he confirmed.

The Constitutional Reform Commission has also indicated that their report will be handed over to the Chief Advisor on January 7.

Meanwhile, the Judicial Reform Commission and the Public Administration Reform Commission have not announced specific submission dates, further delaying their contributions to the reform agenda.

The six commissions were established to address critical structural and operational issues in governance and public service, aiming to strengthen transparency, accountability, and efficiency. The delays have raised concerns about the pace of the reform process.

Observers are now closely watching how these commissions address their respective challenges and deliver their findings in the coming weeks.
