Dhaka, Jan 23 (V7N) — Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) Police have arrested two individuals on charges of selling and stockpiling books intended for free distribution to primary and secondary school students. During the operation, two truckloads of such books were recovered.
The raid was conducted in the capital on Wednesday, with DC Muhammad Talebur Rahman of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Media and Public Relations Department confirming the arrests and seizure to the media.
Joint Police Commissioner (DB-South) Mohammad Nasirul Islam is scheduled to provide further details about the operation during a press conference at the DMP Media Center on Thursday afternoon.
This incident follows a similar raid conducted last Saturday (January 18) in Banglabazar, where 5,000 textbooks meant for free student distribution were seized from shops. Authorities continue to crack down on the illegal sale of these educational materials.
