Dhaka, Jan 28 (V7N) — The process of forming a university-like authority for the seven affiliated colleges under Dhaka University is underway, with discussions leaning towards a new administrative model. Education Advisor Wahiduddin Mahmud shared this information while speaking to journalists after an event at North South University on Tuesday afternoon.

"It is complicated to turn these colleges into separate universities," said Mahmud. "These institutions cater to higher secondary students, and the teachers belong to the education cadre. A committee has been formed to evaluate and propose a feasible model."

Regarding Dhaka University's decision to cease admissions for the seven colleges from this academic year, the education advisor noted that he was not informed of the development. He acknowledged the challenges this decision has posed, adding, "This has created complications, and the committee will need to consider these as part of their recommendations."

The advisor emphasized that a suitable solution will require balancing the interests of students, faculty, and the broader education system. The outcome of the committee's deliberations is expected to shape the future administrative framework for these colleges.
