Dhaka, Feb 27, (V7N) – Two police officers, including a Sub-Inspector (SI) and a Constable, were dismissed for negligence in their duties, confirmed Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. The dismissal was announced after the officers failed in their responsibilities at Gulshan Police Station, which led to their immediate removal from service.

This decision was revealed on Thursday morning after Jahangir Alam Chowdhury’s inspection tour of various police stations in the capital, including Mirpur, Darussalam, Adabar, and Mohammadpur. During his inspection, the Home Adviser emphasized the need for law enforcement officers to remain vigilant and alert at all times, especially during early hours when criminal activities are more likely to occur.

In a statement to the press, Chowdhury stated that maintaining law and order is essential for ensuring that citizens can sleep peacefully and move around without fear. He mentioned that monitoring law and order should not only be the responsibility of the police but also of Ministry officials. He also informed that the number of patrols and forces has been increased as part of the ongoing efforts to enhance security.

The adviser further mentioned that those causing disturbances in the law and order situation would be brought to justice. He assured the public that the law enforcement agencies remain alert, and major checkpoints in the city continue to function properly. Joint operations are also running smoothly, and police station activities are being regularly monitored.

During his visit, the adviser observed that law enforcement members showed signs of laxity during early hours, which is when criminals tend to carry out illegal activities. He instructed the officers to remain vigilant and proactive, especially at these critical times.

When asked by the media about the future of ongoing joint operations, he stated that such operations would be halted when the situation improves but that other operations will continue as usual.

The adviser’s inspection route covered several important locations, including ECB Square, Kalshi, Pallabi, Mirpur-10, Mirpur, Darussalam, and Adabar, with regular interactions with the public and law enforcement officers. He also visited key checkpoints, where he spoke with the on-duty personnel to assess their readiness and commitment. The general public he interacted with expressed satisfaction with the current law and order situation.

The swift response from the Home Adviser reflects the government’s commitment to maintaining safety and security in the capital while holding officers accountable for their actions.
