Dhaka, Apr 16 (V7N) – Legal Advisor to the interim government, Asif Nazrul, has categorically stated that the upcoming 13th parliamentary election will not be held beyond June under any circumstances. He made this statement during a press conference on Wednesday, following a meeting between the BNP delegation and Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

Asif Nazrul emphasized that the Chief Advisor’s prior addresses to the nation clearly reflect the official stance of the interim government. “Don’t be misled by vague comments or empty words,” he warned. “The government intends to hold elections as soon as possible within the December to June timeframe, and there is no question of delaying it to cling to power.”

Regarding the BNP’s position, the Legal Advisor noted that the party is aligned with most of the reform agendas and has a history of supporting reforms. He expressed confidence in BNP’s sincerity toward the ongoing political restructuring.

Nazrul further stated that while the exact election date is yet to be fixed, the election roadmap will be announced two months prior to the polls. He reaffirmed the interim government's commitment to ensuring free, fair, and timely elections.

The statement comes in the backdrop of BNP’s dissatisfaction with the lack of a fixed election date, despite their repeated demands to hold the polls by December.
