Dhaka, Sep 19 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has filed a case against Sheikh Hasina’s private industry and investment advisor Salman F. Rahman, along with 27 International Gateway (IGW) operators, on charges of embezzlement.
The case was lodged on Thursday night at Gulshan Police Station by BTRC Senior Assistant Director Toufiqul Islam. He told Jamuna Television that the case involves embezzlement of Tk 568 crore and has been filed under sections 73, 74, and 76 of the Telecommunications Regulation Act, as well as sections 420 and 406 of the Penal Code.
According to the case statement, after the formation of the IGW Operators Forum, the organizations allegedly engaged in fraudulent activities, including violating license terms and contracts and breaching trust, to embezzle funds.
