Dhaka, Oct 27 (V7N)- Election Commission (EC) Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed has said that there is no reason to panic or worry about the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election.

He made the remarks while speaking to reporters at a press conference held in front of his office at the Election Building in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Sunday (October 26).

Akhtar Ahmed stated, “It is not necessary for the EC to execute everything exactly according to the original plan. Depending on the situation, certain adjustments need to be made. Some tasks have already been completed, while others will take more time. It is not possible to carry out every activity strictly by the calendar.”

The EC Secretary confirmed that the polling stations have been finalized, and that the final list of polling centers, along with political party registrations, will be completed within this week.

Speaking about the registration of new political parties, he said, “Information regarding party registration is being collected from the field and is currently under review. We expect to complete this process within this week, Insha’Allah.”

Responding to a question about overall election preparations, he reiterated that some delays are part of the process. “We are following our plan, but it’s not possible to complete everything 100%. Some matters require time and adjustment. However, I see no reason for panic or concern. The situation does not warrant any such worry,” he said.

Addressing a query about the BNP’s letter objecting to the amendment of the Representation of the People Order (RPO), the EC Secretary said, “BNP has sent a letter regarding the RPO. The commission will review the issue and make a decision accordingly.”
