Dhaka, Nov 30 (V7N) – The Election Commission (EC) has decided that there is no need to increase the number of polling stations for the upcoming national referendum. Instead, the number of secret rooms will be increased to ensure smooth voting, said EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed.
He made the remarks after an inter-ministerial meeting held at the Election Bhaban in Agargaon on Sunday (November 30).
“The upcoming election will be the biggest and best election of the century,” Akhtar Ahmed said, emphasizing the need for close coordination among the Election Commission, field administration, and judiciary for the national election, referendum, and expatriate voting.
Regarding security, he stated that there is no cause for concern about law and order around the election, and that the Home Ministry is fully aware of the situation.
He also revealed that so far, 100,000 expatriates have registered for postal voting in Bangladesh.
