The cabinet committee on law and order has recommended extending the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays by one day, from April 9, to facilitate the smooth travel of holidaymakers.

Chairman of the committee and Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq announced the recommendation on Sunday. He mentioned that the proposal would be presented at the Cabinet meeting scheduled for Monday.

Eid-ul-Fitr is expected to be celebrated on either April 10 or April 11, depending on the sighting of the Shawwal moon. As per the current schedule, Eid holidays are set for April 10, 11, and 12.

In addition, April 7 has been declared a holiday for Shab-e-Qadr, while offices will remain open on April 8 and 9.

The proposal for extending the Eid holiday will be formally submitted to the government on Monday. Additionally, a suggestion has been made to keep offices open on April 6 (Saturday) instead of April 9.

Furthermore, bank authorities have been urged to keep banks open in specific industrial areas for disbursing worker salaries. The Home Minister will oversee discussions with factory owners to ensure timely wage payments for workers.

Moreover, measures will be taken to restrict the movement of unfit vehicles to alleviate public inconvenience.
