Dhaka, Mar 25 (V7N)- A special high-level meeting on addressing the country’s fuel situation was held on Wednesday morning under the chairmanship of Tarique Rahman, at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Cabinet Division of the Secretariat.
The meeting, which began at 10:00 am, focused on the overall economic condition of the country and strategies to tackle the ongoing energy crisis.
According to sources, the government had earlier held two rounds of cabinet meetings before Eid to assess the fuel and energy situation in the context of the ongoing global conflict. During those meetings, several key decisions were taken, including oil rationing measures to manage supply.
Wednesday’s discussion primarily centered on post-Eid challenges, particularly addressing complaints of fuel shortages at filling stations despite adequate reserves. The meeting aimed to identify steps to control mismanagement in fuel distribution and supply chain disruptions.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission on Tuesday decided to increase the price of jet fuel used in both domestic and international flights by approximately Tk 90 per liter, adding further pressure to the energy sector.
Officials indicated that further policy decisions may be announced soon to stabilize the fuel supply and ensure smooth distribution across the country.
