Dhaka, Apr 12 (V7N) – Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that the country’s armed forces are not the property of any individual, party, or family, and must always uphold professionalism and neutrality.

He made the remarks while addressing a program at the Armed Forces Court in Dhaka Cantonment on Sunday.

The Prime Minister stressed that the armed forces should maintain a high ideological standard without compromising professionalism, so that they remain respected internationally and trusted by the people.

Referring to past incidents, including the Peelkhana massacre, he said attempts were made to create controversy around the military, but the government is determined to ensure justice.

Highlighting the legacy of Ziaur Rahman, he said the spirit of patriotism within the armed forces must never be weakened. He also praised the role of the military during the July Movement, saying it has restored public confidence.

Tarique Rahman added that a strong and united military is essential to protect Bangladesh’s independence and sovereignty. He reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening the armed forces and implementing the July Charter.

He also noted that participation in United Nations Peacekeeping has enhanced the global reputation of the Bangladesh Army.
