Dhaka, Apr 12 (V7N) – Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md. Sarwar has said there is no security threat to this year’s Pohela Baishakh celebrations in the capital.

He made the remarks during a briefing at Ramna Park on Sunday afternoon, outlining extensive security measures taken for the Bengali New Year celebrations.

The commissioner said security has been significantly strengthened at Ramna Park and surrounding areas. He added that law enforcement agencies are fully prepared to respond to any untoward incidents, with both uniformed and plainclothes officers deployed alongside round-the-clock intelligence monitoring. The area will also be under CCTV, drone, and camera surveillance.

Special precautions have been taken to prevent eve-teasing, kidnapping, and cyber-related crimes. He further stated that masks, sharp objects, lanterns, and fireworks will be prohibited at the venue.

According to the DMP plan, Ramna Park gates will open at 5:00 am, with entry allowed until 5:00 pm. Tight security will also be in place around the traditional procession starting from the Art Gallery, along with traffic diversions in surrounding areas.
