Dhaka, May 24 (V7N) – Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said that the chargesheet in the rape and murder case of child Ramisa in Mirpur, Dhaka, will be submitted to the court today.

He made the remarks on Sunday (May 24) during the BSRF dialogue held at the Secretariat.

The Home Minister said that a special court will be formed during the Eid holidays and the trial is expected to be completed within 5 to 7 days.

He added that the accused had given a confessional statement in court within a day of arrest, and that his wife’s involvement was also mentioned in the statement, after which she was arrested.

He further said that the postmortem report had been received the previous day and the process of compiling the investigation materials and preparing the chargesheet was completed overnight.

Commenting on the broader issue of rape cases, the minister said such incidents are linked to “social values and cultural deterioration,” adding that no accused in rape cases over the past three months has been granted exemption.

He also announced that the government is preparing a new law to strictly regulate gambling, including online and offline platforms, which will be placed before the next cabinet meeting.

Referring to accountability issues, he added that Sheikh Hasina would be brought to justice under an existing prisoner exchange agreement.
