Dhaka, Jun 23 (V7N)- The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Dhaka Metropolitan Police) has implemented four-tier security measures across the capital on the occasion of the holy Ashura, with authorities assuring that there is no security threat.

The announcement was made by DMP Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed during a press conference held in the capital’s Hussaini Dalan area on Tuesday (June 23).

He stated that no sharp weapons will be allowed during the traditional Tazia procession. In addition, the use of fireworks, crackers, explosives, or any flammable materials has been strictly prohibited.

To enforce these restrictions, special checkpoints have been set up at key locations in Dhaka, while search operations will be carried out at multiple entry points of the procession routes.

The DMP Commissioner further said that law enforcement agencies will respond immediately to any suspicious objects or individuals. Alongside uniformed police personnel, detectives and plainclothes officers will also be deployed throughout the city.

He added that surveillance has been strengthened through CCTV monitoring and other technology-based systems to ensure overall security during the religious observance.

Responding to journalists’ questions, the Commissioner also claimed that attempts by individuals linked to banned political groups to disrupt the situation through rallies or processions had been effectively prevented.

Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate with security forces and maintain peace during the Ashura observance.
