Dhaka, Jul 13 (V7N)- Six more parliamentary standing committees have been formed in the National Parliament, with ruling party lawmakers appointed as chairmen of the newly constituted committees.

On Monday (July 13), Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni placed separate proposals in Parliament with the consent of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The proposals were later approved through voice votes.

The newly formed committees include parliamentary standing committees on the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, Ministry of Industries, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Water Resources and Ministry of Home Affairs.

BNP lawmaker Monirul Haque Chowdhury has been appointed chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.

Abul Kalam has been appointed chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Industries, while Zaharat Adib Chowdhury has been appointed chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

For the Ministry of Commerce committee, Khaled Hossain Mahbub has been appointed chairman.

Mohammad Shafiqul Haque Milon has been appointed chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Water Resources.

Meanwhile, Joynul Abedin has been appointed chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Earlier, parliamentary standing committees were formed for the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Planning and Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

The formation of the committees is part of the process of strengthening parliamentary oversight and monitoring the activities of different ministries.
