Dhaka, Sep 21 (V7N)- Bangladesh Army Chief and Bangladesh Olympic Association President General Waker-Uz-Zaman returned home on Sunday night after completing a four-day official visit to Japan to attend the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.
During the visit, General Waker-Uz-Zaman attended the opening ceremony of the Asian Games and watched various sporting events, encouraging Bangladeshi athletes participating in the continental competition.
He also held a bilateral meeting with Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, president of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
The Army Chief additionally participated in discussions with presidents of Olympic associations from different countries, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) release.
The meetings focused on strengthening cooperation in sports and fostering greater engagement between Bangladesh and international sports organisations.
According to the ISPR, the high-level exchanges are expected to contribute to the development of Bangladesh’s sports sector, expand international cooperation and strengthen the country’s participation in the global sporting arena.
The 20th Asian Games began in Aichi-Nagoya on September 19 and will continue until October 4, bringing together athletes and officials from across Asia.
