Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has instructed that roads damaged by Cyclone Remal be repaired at least a week before Eid-ul-Adha. New road construction will be paused for a week around Eid to ensure smooth and safe travel.
Speaking at a preparatory meeting, Quader emphasized strict monitoring to prevent cattle markets from encroaching on roads. He also announced restrictions on the movement of trucks, covered vans, and lorries, except those carrying perishable goods and cattle, for three days before and after Eid.
The minister expressed concern over the increased number of accidents following Eid-ul-Fitr and stressed the need for strict post-Eid monitoring.
