Dhaka, August 4 — The government has re-imposed an indefinite curfew across the country following the escalation of violence related to the ongoing quota movement. The curfew will be enforced from 6 pm on Sunday in all departmental headquarters, city corporations, municipalities, industrial areas, district headquarters, and upazila headquarters until further notice.

This decision was announced in a press release from the Ministry of Home Affairs, signed by Senior Information Officer Sharif Mahmud Apu.

The government initially imposed a curfew on July 19 due to the violence surrounding the quota movement but had gradually relaxed it, with some areas, including Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayanganj, and Narsingdi, experiencing a relaxation of curfew hours from 6 am to 9 pm on Saturday.

However, as violence spread to more regions, the government decided to reinstate the curfew indefinitely to maintain law and order. The authorities urge citizens to adhere to the curfew and cooperate with law enforcement to ensure safety and stability during this period.
