Dhaka, August 5 - Nahid Islam, a coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, announced that a proposal for an interim national government would be presented within the next 24 hours. Speaking at a press conference in Kawran Bazaar, the capital, he emphasized the need for a coordinated and democratic decision-making process involving students, teachers, and civil society members.

Nahid Islam highlighted that the removal of Sheikh Hasina from power was merely the first step in their broader movement. He stated, "Bangladesh will not be fixed only by removing Sheikh Hasina, but the way in which the country was run must also be changed." He asserted that Sheikh Hasina would be brought to justice, along with those who supported what he described as a fascist regime. The movement's leaders stressed that they would only support a government backed by the student body and citizens, rejecting any alternative forms of governance.

During the press conference, Nahid Islam also called for the recognition of those who died in the movement as national heroes, including those who lost their lives in recent years. He urged for the release of innocent individuals who have been detained, emphasizing the importance of justice and the rule of law.

The student leader called on his fellow students to maintain peace and prevent any acts of looting or communal violence. "We must ensure that the movement does not devolve into chaos and that the country's property and social harmony are protected," he said.

This announcement marks a pivotal moment as the nation awaits the proposed interim government's formation, which aims to steer Bangladesh toward a new political landscape following recent upheavals.
