Dhaka, Jan 03 (V7N) — The Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF), inaugurated on January 1, has been significantly affected by the ongoing severe cold wave and dense fog. While traders had hoped for a revival in attendance due to today's public holiday, the inclement weather continues to disrupt daily activities, leading to a sparse presence of buyers and visitors at the fairgrounds.
Despite the enthusiastic preparation of stalls and pavilions showcasing a wide range of products, the turnout remains disappointing. Many traders expressed their frustration with the limited footfall on what was expected to be a busy day. The fairgrounds, usually bustling with activity, have been notably quiet, with only a few visitors braving the chilly weather to explore the offerings.
Sales staff remain hopeful, predicting an increase in visitors later in the day. "Typically, trading starts picking up by the afternoon, and weekends bring the highest number of buyers," one trader noted. However, the cold wind has deterred many, with some preferring to limit their movement between stalls and pavilions. Instead, they are selectively exploring their preferred products and offers.
The ongoing weather challenges highlight the fair's dependency on favourable conditions to attract large crowds. Traders and organizers alike are optimistic that as the weather improves, attendance and business will gain momentum in the coming days.
