Dhaka, August 6 — The day after a significant student uprising led to the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh Bank has lifted the ban on journalists entering its premises. The announcement was made by Deputy Governor Kazi Saidur Rahman during an exchange meeting on Tuesday. Notably, Governor Abdur Rauf Talukder was absent from the bank on that day.

Deputy Governor Saidur Rahman confirmed that the central bank is committed to restructuring the banking sector and assured that journalists will once again have unrestricted access to the bank. "There will be no barriers for journalists to enter Bangladesh Bank. All information will be shared with journalists as before," he stated. This marks a return to transparency and openness in the institution's operations.

Saidur Rahman also expressed the bank's readiness to cooperate with the new government, underscoring a willingness to support the country's transitional phase. He acknowledged the significance of the students' movement, expressing satisfaction with the outcome and offering condolences to those who lost their lives or were injured during the events.

The reopening of access to journalists is a significant step in restoring normalcy and ensuring transparency in the banking sector as Bangladesh navigates through this period of political change.
