Gazipur, Oct 01 (V7N)– Workers of the APL Apparels factory in Gazipur have blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, demanding payment of overdue salaries. The protest, which started on Tuesday morning at the factory gate in the Bhogra area, later spilled onto the highway, causing significant traffic disruption. By 11:00 am, the road remained closed, severely affecting commuters.

The protesting workers claim that despite multiple promises, the factory management has failed to clear the arrears, leaving them with no option but to protest.

Gazipur Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) Mohammad Ibrahim Khan acknowledged that traffic had been severely impacted due to the protests. Efforts are underway to clear the highway and restore normal traffic flow.

In a separate incident, workers from Bards Group in Ashulia, Savar, also took to the streets, blocking the Nabinagar-Chandra highway. This has caused further disruption for passengers travelling on this route.

Law enforcement is actively working to resolve both situations and restore order.
