Dhaka, Nov 15 (V7N) — Amid ongoing tensions between the Saad and Zubair factions of Tablighi Jamaat, a large gathering of Saad supporters offered Friday prayers at the Kakrail Markaz Mosque before leaving the area shortly thereafter. The prayer congregation, which concluded at 12:30 PM, marked a significant moment in the ongoing dispute between the two groups.

Devotees had begun arriving at the mosque early in the morning, despite a prior announcement by the Zubair supporters opposing Maulana Saad's involvement in the upcoming Bishwa Ijtema. By 10 AM, Saad supporters had taken up positions outside the mosque, stretching as far as Nayapaltan and Matsya Bhaban, reflecting the escalating tensions.

For security purposes, the road adjacent to the mosque and leading to the Chief Advisor's residence in Ramna was cordoned off, with law enforcement maintaining a significant presence in the Kakrail area.

A Saad supporter expressed disappointment, saying, "Islam teaches peace and unity, but some factions are fostering discord by excluding us from the Ijtema and the mosque."

Following the prayers, most Saad supporters vacated the Kakrail area. However, several groups are set to remain at the mosque for two weeks to carry out dawati (preaching) activities. Conversely, the Zubair faction has announced a four-week stay at the mosque, intensifying the standoff between the groups.

The dispute stems from disagreements over leadership within the Tablighi Jamaat, with each faction accusing the other of deviating from traditional principles. The conflict has raised concerns about further unrest, prompting the government and law enforcement to monitor the situation closely.
