Dhaka, Jan 27 (V7N) — In a major crackdown on traffic violations, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Traffic Division filed 1,735 cases in a single day. The drive, conducted on Sunday, also led to the dumping of 138 vehicles and the wrecking of 44 others, according to a press release issued by the DMP's Media and Public Relations Department on Monday.
Many of the accused individuals were fined for violating traffic laws. The operation aimed to address traffic discipline issues across the Dhaka metropolitan area.
The DMP stated that such campaigns will continue regularly to ensure better traffic management and maintain order on the city's roads.
This initiative is part of the DMP's broader effort to improve the safety and efficiency of Dhaka's transportation system.
