Dhaka, Mar 12 (V7N) – Police clashed with private primary school teachers in front of the National Press Club on Wednesday afternoon as the teachers marched towards Jamuna, the residence of the chief advisor, demanding nationalization of their jobs. At least five people were injured in the incident.

The teachers had been protesting for a long time, but after failing to receive any assurance, they attempted to reach the chief advisor’s residence. Around 1:30 PM, as their procession neared Kadam Fountain, police intercepted them, urging the demonstrators to send a small delegation instead of proceeding as a large group. However, the teachers refused to comply.

As the protesters pushed forward despite police resistance, law enforcement deployed water cannons. When the demonstrators continued, police resorted to baton charges to disperse them.

The situation remains tense as teachers continue to press for their demand for nationalization, a longstanding issue affecting thousands of educators across the country.
