Dhaka, Sept 5 (V7N): The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has called on city residents to assist in the recovery of firearms looted during the recent unrest following the fall of the Awami League government.

In a public notice, DMP announced the launch of a joint operation aimed at retrieving firearms and ammunition, including those with expired licenses as of 4 September, as well as weapons stolen from police stations and other law enforcement agencies.

"Please inform us immediately if you have any information regarding illegal firearms. DMP is dedicated to making the city free of unregistered weapons," the notice urged.

Citizens are encouraged to report information on illegal firearms by calling the National Emergency Number '999,' contacting their nearest police station, or through DMP's official Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/dmpdhaka). Additionally, information can be submitted via WhatsApp at 01320-037870 and 01320-037871.
