Lalmonirhat, Dec 26 (V7N)- Dense fog and biting cold have severely disrupted public life in Lalmonirhat, as temperatures continue to drop over the past few days.

According to the Meteorological Office, the minimum temperature in Lalmonirhat was recorded at 11.4 degrees Celsius on Friday morning (December 26), while humidity stood at 99 percent, intensifying the cold and damp conditions.

Residents of the char areas of the district, surrounded by the Teesta and Dharla rivers, are bearing the brunt of the cold wave. Farmers and day laborers are facing difficulties in going out to work, as the bitter cold and icy winds have put many people at risk, particularly the elderly, children, and low-income groups.

Hospital sources said that the number of patients suffering from cold-related illnesses has increased in recent days due to the prolonged winter conditions.

Dense fog has also reduced visibility, forcing vehicles to operate with headlights on both day and night, increasing the risk of road accidents and slowing down transportation.

Local residents have urged authorities to strengthen relief measures, including the distribution of warm clothing, as cold conditions are expected to persist.
