Dhaka, July 24 (V7N) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has initiated an investigation into allegations that former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque illegally acquired government plots in collusion with corrupt officials of the Public Works Department and RAJUK.
On Thursday (July 24), it was confirmed that the ACC had sent official letters to RAJUK, the National Board of Revenue (NBR), and the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, seeking information regarding the matter. A 7-member ACC investigation team has been formed to carry out a detailed inquiry.
In a related development, the ACC has also found substance in allegations that 15 drivers of VIPs were allotted plots in the Jhilmil residential project under recommendations allegedly made by ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. According to ACC sources, these plots were reportedly granted on grounds of “outstanding contribution to the state sector.”
The 15 recipients of the plots have been identified as: Saiful Islam, Shafiqul Islam, Nurul Islam Liton, Rajan Matbar, Mahbub Hossain, Shahin, Matiur Rahman, Nur Hossain Bepari, Borhan Uddin, Billa Hossain, Mizanur Rahman, Bachchu Howlader, Nurul Alam, and Nurunnabi.
An ACC enforcement team conducted a raid at the Capital Development Authority (RAJUK) head office on Wednesday, uncovering key documents related to the plot allocations.
The investigation is ongoing as the ACC examines whether the plot distributions violated any laws or procedural guidelines.
