Dhaka, July 24 (V7N) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has confirmed allegations that 15 VIP drivers were allocated plots in the Jhilmil residential project on the personal recommendation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, under the quota meant for those who made outstanding contributions to the state sector.
This revelation was made public on Thursday (July 24), following a recent investigation. According to ACC officials, although the Jhilmil project had specific categories for eligible recipients, these plots were granted outside the formal procedure based on the former premier’s direction.
The 15 beneficiaries are: Saiful Islam, Shafiqul Islam, Nurul Islam Liton, Rajan Matbar, Mahbub Hossain, Shahin, Matiur Rahman, Nur Hossain Bepari, Borhan Uddin, Billa Hossain, Mizanur Rahman, Bachchu Howlader, Nurul Alam, and Nurunnabi.
On Wednesday (July 23), an ACC team conducted a raid at the head office of the Capital Development Authority (RAJUK) to gather documents related to the alleged irregularities. During the operation, ACC officials confirmed that these drivers were granted plots under the state service recognition quota, solely based on the recommendation of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The ACC’s 7-member investigative team continues to review documentation and may summon officials from RAJUK, the Housing Ministry, and other related departments for further clarification.
