Savar, Feb 27, (V7N) – Five members of an inter-district robbery gang were arrested by Ashulia police and district detective police in a joint operation while preparing for a robbery in Savar. The authorities also seized local weapons and a mini pickup truck from the suspects.

The arrests were made on the night of February 26, around 1:45 AM, near the quiet cemetery road in Ashulia. The arrested suspects are identified as Md. Khair Hossain (35) from Patuakhali, Md. Kabir Hossain (45) from Barisal, Md. Imran Ali (42) from Sirajganj, Md. Suman Mia (55) from Natore, and Md. Saiful Islam (50) from Kurigram. The suspects had been living in rented houses in Ashulia and Dharmarai.

During the operation, the police recovered two flashlights, a machete, a large knife, a large Chinese cleaver, a cutter, a wooden stick, and a mini pickup truck (registration number Dhaka Metro-NA-20-9664) from the gang. While the five were arrested, other members of the gang, including Ripon, Talim, and Rahmat Ullah, managed to escape.

The police confirmed that these suspects were active members of an inter-district robbery gang, involved in numerous robberies across Dhaka and surrounding areas. They also revealed that several cases had been filed against them in various police stations. Legal action is being taken against the arrested suspects.
