Rangamati, Oct 29 (V7N) — A protest rally was held on Wednesday morning in front of Bonrupa Alif Market in Rangamati town, demanding justice for three local hill youths killed in gunfire by the armed anti-Chittagong Hill Tracts group, UPDF. The rally was organized by the Rangamati district unit of the Parbatya Chattagram Chhatra Parishad (PCCP).
The event was presided over by PCCP Rangamati District President Tajul Islam Taj and conducted by Organizational Secretary Parvez Mosharraf Hossain. Speakers included Rangamati District PCNP Vice President Kazi Jaloa, Organizational Secretary Humayun Kabir, Central Youth Council President Noor Hossain, PCCP District General Secretary Md. Alamgir Hossain, Co-General Secretary Riazul Islam, and leaders of the PCCP Government College branch including Nayan Barua.
The speakers condemned the September 28, 2025, incident in Ramshu Bazar, Guimara upazila of Khagrachhari district, where UPDF militants, after provoking local residents, opened fire from hilltops, resulting in the deaths of three ordinary hill youths: Akhr Marma, Athuipru Marma, and Thoiching Marma. The militants had violated Section 144, incited local communities, and attacked security forces, including the army and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), causing injuries to personnel and damaging vehicles.
Witnesses and video evidence reportedly confirmed that the UPDF deliberately fired at civilians and security personnel, escalating tensions in the region. The PCCP speakers highlighted that this act was part of a broader conspiracy by UPDF to destabilize the Chittagong Hill Tracts, create communal unrest, and exert political pressure for autonomy demands. The group had previously warned in May 2025 of creating a crisis if their autonomy demands were not met.
The PCCP leaders urged authorities to bring all UPDF militants involved in the killings to justice and warned of stricter measures if accountability is not ensured. They also called on the public not to be misled by UPDF propaganda and emphasized the need for unity among hill and Bengali communities to maintain national integrity and sovereignty.
Speakers further condemned the series of UPDF-instigated incidents in Khagrachhari and Guimara from September 19 to 28, 2025, labeling them as part of a deliberate plot to create instability and communal tension in the hill districts.
