Ukhiya June 10,(V7N)- The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested five individuals, including the top commander of ARSA, in an operation at the Rohingya camp in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar.
 
During the operation, a foreign pistol, an LG, a one-shooter gun, 10 rounds of cartridges, and 2 kilograms of explosives were recovered from them. Additionally, three mobile phones and 2,000 taka were confiscated.
 
The arrested individuals are Mohammad Shahidul Islam, alias Maulvi Ali Akiz (50), son of the late Abu Bakr, a resident of Block C of the Kutupalong-5 Rohingya camp in Ukhiya, Mohammad Faisal, alias Master Faisal (28), son of Maulvi Anwar, a resident of Block D of the Kutupalong-6 Rohingya camp in Ukhiya, Hafiz Foyjur Rahman (24), son of Rahmat Ullah, a resident of Block B-5 Extension of the Ukhiya camp-20, Mohammad Salam, alias Master Salam (20), son of the late Karim Ullah, a resident of Block B-44 of the Balukhali-8 Rohingya camp in Ukhiya, and Mohammad Jubayer (24), son of Anu Mia, a resident of the Ukhiya camp-22.
 
The arrested individuals were transferred to Ukhiya Police Station in the afternoon. It is learned that they were arrested during a special operation conducted at Rohingya Camp-4 last night, as reported by ASP Abu Salam Chowdhury, additional police superintendent of RAB-15. According to RAB, Maulvi Akiz, the top leader of ARSA, and Rohingya leader Master Mohibullah are the masterminds behind several murders and disruptive activities in the Rohingya camp. There are more than 21 cases against them, including murder, arms possession, and abduction.
 
It is reported based on intelligence that Maulvi Akiz, along with other terrorists, is currently located in Camp-4. Accordingly, a special operation was conducted late Sunday night, resulting in the arrest of 5 individuals, including Maulvi Akiz. Arms, grenades, and explosives were recovered from them. The information was disclosed at a press briefing at RAB-15 office in Cox's Bazar on Monday afternoon.
 
Besides, a total of 112 ARSA terrorists, including ARSA chief Ataullah's bodyguard Akiz, have been arrested by RAB. From these terrorists, 51.71 kilograms of explosives, 5 grenades, 3 rifle grenades, 10 locally made hand grenades, 13 foreign firearms, 54 locally made firearms, 168 rounds of bullets/cartridges, 67 empty shells, 4 IDs, and 48 cocktails were seized.
 
Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway at Ukhiya Police Station."
