Khagrachari, August 21 (V7N) — In Guimara, Khagrachari, a vehicle valued at approximately one crore taka was set ablaze by saboteurs. The incident took place around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the Joint Farm area of the upazila. Local sources report that a VIP vehicle with the registration number (Dhaka Metro GHO -15-7630) was en route to Guimara Bazaar from Khagrachari when it reached the Joint Farm area. There, a group of saboteurs ambushed the vehicle, firing several blank shots.
Although the driver and one passenger managed to flee to safety, the attackers ignited the vehicle. While the identities of those who escaped remain unconfirmed, it is suspected that the vehicle belonged to Khuijendra Lal Tripura, former MP and Minister of State for Chittagong Hill Tracts.
Mohammad Ariful Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Guimara Police Station, stated, “We responded promptly upon learning of the vehicle fire and arrived at the scene. We are currently investigating the ownership of the vehicle and the perpetrators behind the attack.”
