Dhaka, Sep 19 (V7N)– Major Tarique and nine others have been accused in a case related to the kidnapping, enforced disappearance, and conspiracy to murder Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Md Touhidul Islam Chowdhury, the chief of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's personal security team.

The case was filed by Md Touhidul Islam Chowdhury himself, who submitted a CR case to Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Zakir Hossain’s court on Thursday. Following this, the court directed Newmarket police station to treat the complaint as a First Information Report (FIR) after hearing the plaintiff's statement.

Advocate Masud Ahmed Talukder confirmed the filing of the case on behalf of the plaintiff.

Among the accused are former Director General of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) Major General (retd) Md Saiful Abedin and sacked Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) chief Major General Ziaul Ahsan.

The case centers on the alleged abduction of Md Touhidul Islam Chowdhury from his residence on Elephant Road on December 27, 2018, by individuals dressed in plain clothes. According to the plaintiff, he was detained incommunicado for two days before being falsely implicated in two separate cases and sent to prison on December 29.

Despite being granted bail and attempting to file a complaint with the police, Chowdhury's effort to register a General Diary (GD) was unsuccessful.
