Tangail, Oct 02 (V7N)— The Autumn Durga Puja celebrations in Tangail began today with the auspicious Mahalaya, mirroring the festivities across the country. A Mahalaya ceremony was held at the Thanapara Public Temple in Tangail town this morning, marking the official start of the Durga Puja.

Organized by the Tangail District Branch of the Hindu Students Mahazot, the ceremony commenced with the traditional Chandi Path. Devotees actively participated in the invocation of Goddess Durga, ushering in the festive spirit of the season.

A cultural performance highlighted the occasion, with artists enacting the mythical tale of Mahishasura's reign of terror in heaven, the emergence of Goddess Durga, and the eventual slaying of the demon, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. The story was brought to life through a captivating blend of music and dance.

The Mahalaya ceremony sets the tone for the grand Durga Puja festivities, which will continue in the coming days, as the people of Tangail join others across the country in celebrating the arrival of Goddess Durga.
