Khagrachari, Oct 06 (V7N) — In a proactive effort to maintain communal harmony and address rising concerns over conflicts, anarchy, and the spread of rumors, a harmony rally was organized by the Khagrachari Sadar Upazila administration on Sunday. The rally, held in the upazila administration’s conference room, was chaired by Upazila Executive Officer Sujan Chandra Roy and featured Deputy Commissioner Md. Sahiduzzaman as the chief guest.
The event, aimed at fostering unity and understanding among different communities, saw participation from local government officials, law enforcement, and civil society members. Speakers at the rally emphasized the need to preserve the long-standing peaceful coexistence in the hill tracts and stand united against forces that seek to disrupt the communal harmony in the region.
"The main goal of today's rally is to ensure that the peaceful environment in the hills remains free from conflict, anarchy, and communal unrest," said Deputy Commissioner Sahiduzzaman during his speech. Other key speakers included Khagrachari Police Superintendent Md. Arefin Jewel, District Land Officer Anjan Kumar Dash, and Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Baten Mrida. They called for heightened awareness to combat rumors and misinformation, which often fuel communal tensions. Civil society leaders also echoed these sentiments, urging all communities to collaborate in ensuring peace in the region.
The rally was attended by a broad spectrum of the Khagrachari community, including members of the press, local religious leaders, and representatives of various social organizations. Among other notable attendees were Vice President of Khagrachari Press Club H.M. Prafulla, General Secretary Advocate Jasimuddin Majumder, and President of Khagrachari District Puja Udjaan Parishad Ashok Majumder.
