Patuakhali, Nov 09 (V7N)- In an effort to support those impacted by the construction of the Payra 1320 MW Thermal Power Plant, the Progressive Youth Welfare Organization, in collaboration with the North-West Power Generation Company, distributed essential resources to affected residents in the Dhankhali Union on Saturday evening.

Fifteen women affected by the project received sewing machines, while 50 copies of the Quran Sharif were handed to local madrasa students. Educational materials were also provided to 150 students, and play materials were given to 35 students. The distribution took place near Londa Kheyaghat and was attended by several community leaders, including Rabiul Awal Antar, Publicity Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan Uttar Chhatra Odhikar Parishad; Mosharraf Hossain Mamun, a local rural doctor; Iqbal Jisan, General Secretary of Dhankhali Union’s Chhatra Dal; and Asaduzzaman Sajib, Member Secretary of Jubo Odhikar Parishad's Upazila branch.

This support follows a series of local demonstrations, including a human chain organized by youth on September 5, to advocate for the rights of those impacted by the power plant's construction. In response, the North-West Power Generation Company took measures to enhance the quality of life for 250 affected residents by distributing essential items. The initiative represents a positive step towards addressing community needs and improving local welfare.
