Kurigram, December 5, (V7N) A faction of traders from the Sonahat Land Port in Bhurungamari Upazila, Kurigram, held a press conference today to express dissatisfaction with the current Sonahat Land Port Importer-Exporter Business Association Committee.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Abul Hossain Bepari, a former vice president of the organization, read a written statement during the event held at the land port. He criticized the recent formation of a convening committee led by Shaheen Shikder, an expelled BNP leader, stating that the committee includes non-business individuals and was formed irregularly following the expiration of the previous committee’s tenure.

Bepari alleged that this politically influenced convening committee has negatively impacted business activities at the port, creating operational inefficiencies. He demanded the immediate dissolution of the convening committee and the formation of a new committee free from political affiliations to restore normalcy and promote trade at the port.

The press conference underscores the ongoing challenges within the business community at Sonahat Land Port, as traders advocate for a fair and functional leadership to safeguard their interests.
