Kurigram, Jan 01 (V7N) — The northern district of Kurigram, nestled at the foothills of the Himalayas, is experiencing a harsh winter as a bone-chilling cold wave accompanied by dense fog blankets the region.

The temperature in Kurigram was recorded at 11 degrees Celsius early Wednesday morning, with a humidity level of 98 percent, intensifying the cold's impact. Many areas remain shrouded in fog, and while some sunshine was reported in the morning, the icy wind continues to make the cold unbearable.

Daily life has been severely affected, particularly for daily wage earners who are struggling to go to work on time. Despite the harsh conditions, many are braving the cold for their livelihoods, while others resort to lighting fires in haystacks to keep warm.

Dense fog is also creating hazards on the roads. Vehicles are forced to use headlights during the day to navigate safely. From night until morning, the fog reduces visibility significantly, and even after sunrise, the cold remains biting.

Residents of Kurigram continue to battle the harsh winter, seeking warmth and relief as they adapt to the extreme weather conditions.
